Experts Talks

Bhushan Biyani
Throuht this expert talk section we have tried to cover views of some of the well- qulaified personalities who works in various fields. We aim to get knowledge from their perspective. Also we have covered an interview with the citizen and a school kid that how much they are aware of Eco-Friendly Techniques and how much they implement it.

Following are the views of experts.

Mr. Ravindra U. Kamodkar
Head of the Department, (Civil Engineering)
SNJB’s College of Engineering.

Every living organism on this planet needs water to survive. Unlike others , human demands and use much more water than necessity. This demand is constantly rising for quality as well as quantity. So to maintain these and for its well distribution within time forced engineers and planners to contemplate and propose more comprehensive, complex and ambitious plans for water resource systems. Such plans include the conservation, regulation of natural water supplies and the transportation of water under water shades, river basins, nations and it has also been suggested through continents. This campaign aims to spread awareness regarding significance of water conservation and control the use of water which is being wasted.  As long as planet faces the hazards of global warming, it will also affect rainfall intensity, so we must take efforts to control the increasing temperature of the planet and save the planet earth.

First of all congratulations OrCES team on you deciding to launch website which not only speaks of green planet but even underlines measures to ensure that the planet really stays green – only for the benefit of mankind.

In this context I would like to put forth a single fact – that fighting the pollution to keep earth green is not a singular's job. No it doesn't require a mass support either, but it takes only two to take the first step. I choose to be one of the two and ask you to be the other person. From then onwards use the concept of multi-level marketing and bring the groups of two or binary… target is achieved.

Let's make it simple. Without delving deeper into the global warming issues and making it a headache, all that one needs to understand what exactly is a pollution and how that can be reduced. If I add a pinch of salt in glass of water, the result is salt has dissolved. But if I add salt after the saturation level, the salt will not dissolve. Pollution is nothing but excess levels of anything released in the

air, water or other media available.Very often we tend to cross the 'saturation levels' largely because of consumption of things – consumerism in other way – even when they are not 'required'. Unnecessarily using vehicle, air conditioner, television, blasting sounds at programmes, functions, etc and etc are few examples. Ganapati festival which got over recently is the perfect example of indigestion of river because of mass immersion in a very small time.

Well, instead of crying over the problems you engineers need to think beyond and that is where your website will play an exemplary role. As an individual let me put forth a real-life example. We are group of youth which include a few who are employed, while most are taking their lessons in junior and senior colleges, engineering colleges, MBAs etc. In the year 1998 we thought of taking steps to persuade the people from throwing the 'Nirmalya' in the river Godavari as a part of maintaining cleanliness. We were termed objected by the locals and labeled as foolish. The group known as 'Atharva Nyas' stuck to the decision and next year again requested the locals to cooperate. Some intellectuals did help us but were very cautious. The fourth year people new what they had to

do when they came to gangaghat. In fact if our trolley for collecting Nirmalya arrived late, the citizens would question us about arrangements. Just then we got an helping hand from Shaktiman Nisarga Mitra, who started collecting Ganesh idols. While some of our own members were skeptical and would promise help in Nirmalya collection finally agreed and refrained themselves from immersions. The dedication of young and seniors together achieved fantastic results and that's how our fight against the established (people, faith) will to be fought.

May God Bless You All for the same. The history will definitely remember you for the path-breaking and innovative ideas. Keep it up

3. Air Conditioning Expert
    Mr.Arvind Wagh,
Businessman, 20 years Eperience in Air-Conditioning Industry.

Air Conditioning industry is regulary updating and making changes in its technologies to protect ozone layer and reduce the emmission of CFC. Not just that we keep experimenting on refrigerents for better cooling as well as  for minimum CFC emmission.  Their are certain standards revised every year according necessity and they are strictly folllowed from dealers to the producers. We are trying to make changes also on local level to help this enviornment friendly projects.

Constructions in rural Indian towns also help nature with some of their own developed technologies. We have used Mangalore tiles for roofing of homes and buildings. Also use of bamboo as walls which acts as thermal insulation in case of summer and it is also appealing aesthetically and architecturally too. Using plastic shades are beneficial to save the electric power. Tiles made up from mud & dug are also economical as high strength carrying tiles are not necessary for homes. We have used ash and lime in some proportion which reduces use of cement.
